BERKSHIRE ANIMAL D.R.E.A.M.S.
Helping the forgotten felines of Berkshire County since 1999

WHAT IS ANIMAL D.R.E.A.M.S.?

Animal D.R.E.A.M.S. is a not-for-profit organization improving the lives of feral and abandoned cats. Based in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Animal D.R.E.A.M.S.' mission is to have all feral cat colonies in Berkshire County managed and stabilized, with healthy cats and a zero reproductive rate, with kittens and non-feral cats socialized and adopted out into loving homes. All cats are screened, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated prior to release or adoption.

WE'RE GROWING STRONG

This year marks the tenth year since Animal D.R.E.A.M.S. was founded. It's been an incredible journey so far, with nearly 2500 cat rescues to date. Keeping in mind that cats are prolific breeders, able to birth up to three litters a year, (and with those kittens able to enter the breeding pool as early as five months old), it is easy to see why there is such an overpopulation of cats, and why spaying and neutering as many as we can helps to reduce the numbers of kittens born. With our Trap-Neuter-Return (T-N-R) program, several thousand fewer kittens have been born around Berkshire County.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We are the only organization in Berkshire County to go to where the cats are: in barns, on the streets, under buildings. Our dedicated volunteers work under some pretty unpleasant conditions, all year long, to rescue and improve the lives of the forgotten felines around us.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Our volunteers work very hard throughout the long, bitter winter, trapping as many feral cats as possible before the Spring kitten season begins-eighteen cats living behind an automotive garage... 29 at a goat farm... 21 at a dairy farm... 13 near a Pittsfield housing project... 8 in a trailer park... one cat here, six cats there. The list goes on.

HOPPER’S SURGERY FUND

On December 22, Hopper, our Animal D R E A M S mascot, underwent surgery to correct a life-threatening urinary tract obstruction. This surgery was performed after Hopper’s urethra continually blocked, causing excruciating pain and threat of kidney failure. Hopper has been our mascot since his rescue 5 years ago, as one of 30 cats rescued from a farm during a neglect investigation. Hopper has visited numerous schools and nursing homes, been on TV, and is the sweetest, most trusting and loving cat imaginable. Ironically, Hopper was featured in our winter newsletter, published just a few days before Hopper’s emergency.

We must raise $ 1250 to cover Hopper’s veterinary bill. A generous donor will match the first $500 raised. Your donation is tax-deductible; please be as generous as you can; checks payable to Animal DREAMS (please write “Hopper’s fund” on the memo line.)

We thank you. Hopper thanks you.
